Shipping

What is your shipping policy

Shipping Policy: Items in stock usually ship within 3 days and then priority mail takes another 2-3 days.

Occasionally, if you order more than one product and we keep them in two different locations your order may be split into two packages and could take a different amount of shipping and or handling time.

What are your shipping options?

We ship all orders USPS Priority.

Do you ship to Canada, Australia, Europe, etc?

Yes, we ship to many countries around the world. When you check out you’ll be asked to choose your country, if you do not find your country in the drop down, please contact us for more information.

What are your shipping rates?

DeTails toys ships via USPS, which is by far the least expensive way to ship your package in a timely manner and with tracking.

Both our Domestic & International shipping rates are exactly the same as what the USPS charges us. We do not make a profit on shipping.

What about international import duties, taxes, confiscations etc?

While we do everything we can to minimize such; Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs might be. Also we are not responsible if our items are illegal in your country and are confiscated for any reason. Please make sure you check all the associated laws in your country before we ship to you.

Will I get a shipping confirmation?

Yes you will get a confirmation from USPS.com with your tracking number when it ships.

The email says you shipped my package but the USPS tracking isn’t updated?

Don’t be alarmed if things don’t show up in the tracking right away, USPS, tracking is often not very accurate and sometimes you’ll actually receive the package before they update their site.

When will you ship my order if only some if the items are in stock?

Our standard policy is to hold your order and ship when all items are ready. Since all items are now in stock the only delay might be if your items are held and must be shipped from two different locations.

Orders & Order Status

How long does it take to get my toys?

All items are now in stock and usually ship within 3 days. However, occasionally we may offer an item with a different shipping time, if so we will note it in the items description.

There are no more custom floggers?? Just what is in stock?

Things are changing here at DeTails Toys. First, the world is changing and we have no idea when and or if we’ll have shows to do in the foreseeable future.  Also, after all these years co-owner Domina Skye can no longer physically make floggers so she has retired to do her amazing artwork which we’ll let you know about soon.

We had to make some big changes here and although we know some of you will be disappointed we think most of you are going to be very excited.

We no longer make custom floggers.

For years we assumed that people wanted custom pieces first and foremost. But over the years our customers are more and more frustrated by our not having things in stock to ship immediately. We realize that the majority of our customers, in this Amazon world, would rather not wait 6 weeks if they can just choose from what is in stock. To do that and still keep our quality up, we had to make this decision.

However, this means that everything that is available is now listed on this website. Click on the type of hide you want and you will be presented with all the floggers we have in stock of that hide! You’ll get your flogger in a few days, not months!!

In closing, Thank you! Thank you for all these years of support. You have let us do something we love for over 20 years. We really love you guys and we think this is really the best solution to the problem. If you have questions or just want to let us know how happy or not so happy you are 😉 you can contact us directly at changes@DeTails Toys.com

Flogger & Whip Q&A

How should I care/clean my flogger

We actually don’t do anything at all to our floggers and have them for many, many years.  But, here are the “do’s and don’ts:

For light cleaning you can use the essence of saddle soap. This means just put some on your fingers and rub them together till you get a foamy consistency and then rub them on the tails and wipe it off again. Use a light coating. You can also use any leather cleaner or conditioner BUT BE WARNED it may change the feel of the leather, especially, if you use heavy conditioners or similar products.

When it comes to blood and or other body fluids:
Note: The information contained in these topics is not intended nor implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, it is provided for educational purposes.

You can do old school style which is once your play partner(s) leave blood or body fluids that is “their” toy now.  Meaning it will and only be used on them.  Of course this is a luxury few can afford.

After many tests with various disinfectants including everything from alcohol to Techni-Care(which is back on the market by the way, after being removed for a while due to red tape reasons) we’ve found that a good old 10% bleach solution is the least harmful thing to use on your floggers. (This is what you’ll find in most BDSM play areas/Dungeons when you are out at an event) Spray your flogger(s) down with the solution, hang and let air dry.  Also, just hanging your flogger(s) in the air to “air out” for a while will kill most anything. We know one very knowledgable person who hangs their toy in their closet for a few months and feels very secure that their toys are safe to use. Contaminations die at different rates. For example  HIV virus dies pretty quickly once it comes into contact with the air however Hepatitis C takes a long time to die, it can live for weeks, some say even months outside of a host, so contact with a contaminated flogger(s)/toy could spread the virus, even if the toy has not been used in a while. It’s up to you and your partner(s) to do your homework and find out what level of risk you are comfortable with.

What are your most popular floggers?

It’s hard to answer that because everyone wants floggers for different reasons. However if you are asking what we would recommend for a first flogger or two, then we suggest a Double Elk (softer and yet still nice and thuddy) and Single Bull Flogger (higher intensity). Both of these toys are floggers you’ll want in your bag forever and with these two you can get a huge amount of sensations.

Where can I find size information and specs on your floggers?

All of our size info, specs, handle colors, handle types and much more can be found on our Flogger Page

What is the difference between a single & double flogger?

Doubling is when you have twice as many tails as a single. Doubling the tails of any flogger adds thud since thud is created by adding more total mass to the flogger. Thud is that cathartic feeling that most people associate with a flogger.

A deer flogger is more of a bedroom toy with very little sating but doubling it at least gives it some oomph. Elk is wonderful when it’s doubled. A double elk has a beautiful thud/sting ratio, it’s still got some sting, but you can hit hard and not cause intense pain. Doubling bigger floggers like bull or buffalo will give you massive thud and sting. So in general, even something that is not very thuddy, will be thuddIER when doubled.

What’s the difference between Sting and Thud?

Sting Vs. Thud – The age old question. All floggers have some of each but here is the rule of thumb. Sting is decided mostly by the type of hide you are using; where as Thud is decided by how thick the hide is and how many tails you have, aka “total mass”.

Examples of sting: stock braid floggers, bootlace floggers, rubber floggers and most of all that you will see on our high intensity page.

Examples of thud: anything with more tails, a double or a mop. Anything that is a thicker or spongier hide.

Doubling the tails dramatically increases the thud of the flogger, giving you that cathartic slam. This is important in lighter and medium hides where you may want a very soft feel but lots of thud. It’s also why thick hides like bull and Buffalo or anything made into a mop are so amazing and overwhelming.

Do your floggers use cowhide?

What is usually called referred to as “Cowhide” is generally not a hide that lifestyle flogger makers use. It’s usually garment leather, very thin, feels cheap and is what is used in most low quality “sex shop” floggers.

However many hides we use technically come from cows. Bull is a male cow and is one we use, suede is often cow hide but it is unfinished on both sides. Latigo is bull hide tanned a certain way to be very stiff.

When it comes to two handed/Florentine flogging which flogger should I use?

Most people don’t feel comfortable with heavy weight for Florentine. That said, we have people with double MOPS… so it’s all about how comfortable you are with the weight. Elk, deer and suede are our most popular floggers for florentine.

My floggers sheds?  Why and how do I deal with that?

Actually very few do shed, but it’s a normal occurrence for some hides, as they are wild animal hides and each animal’s skin is a bit different.

To help maintain the life of your flogger(s) and help with the shedding.  You can vacuum each tail. (just use the nozzle part of your vacuum on each tail). You also can use a lint roller on your flogger to remove a lot of the shedding. You can also store your flogger in  a cotton bag, and or just use an old pair of stockings or socks.  Put the tails of your flogger in a leg of the stocking or the sock, cut the top off and you  then have your own flogger “sleeve”.

Can I get a flogger in red, or pink or brown or green etc?

All floggers are now in stock and you can choose from those listed.

If we don’t see what you want your are welcome to contact us and let us know what you are looking for. The next time we are making that type of flogger we will contact you.

What are the ends of your floggers like?

All of our flogger tails come with an angular end.
