DeTails Toys was founded in 1997 and is one of the largest and longest running lifestyle flogger brands in the world. Owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Bo and Siouxsie Blaze, the company has handcrafted approximately 20,000 leather floggers and toys, made in the USA. Both are lifestyle practitioners, not outside manufacturers. They have lived a polyamorous lifestyle together since 1996 and have been part of the BDSM and leather communities for over three decades. They proudly make floggers BY people in the lifestyle FOR people in the lifestyle.
Bo Blaze is an entrepreneur who is always doing 12 things at once: actor, comedian, musician, talent manager, PCC-certified ‘alternative’ life coach, and author of 50 Shades of Curious: BDSM for Beginners. He is a nationally recognized expert on kink, lifestyle BDSM, ethical non-monogamy, and polyamory, quoted by CNN, the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the Guardian, and on WABC Radio’s Curtis Sliwa Morning Show. For over 20 years he has lectured at institutions such as Columbia, NYU, Rutgers, CUNY LaGuardia, Colorado College, and the Institute for the Arts in Psychotherapy, and at dozens of national conferences and events including TES Fest, Black Rose, Exxxotica Expo, Fetish Con, the Pleasure Chest, CLAW, Camp Crucible, and the NE Power Exchange. He served as the BDSM consultant for John Cameron Mitchell’s film Shortbus, is a Board Member Emeritus of The Eulenspiegel Society (the oldest BDSM education group in the United States), and is the recipient of the Pantheon of Leather President’s Award and the TES Lifetime Achievement Award. At DeTails Toys, Bo handles the business, the customer relationships, the storytelling, and most of the time-on-the-road that comes with 25 years of running a lifestyle brand. Siouxsie Blaze with Steve Aoki at the Stratosphere art exhibit, NFT NYC 2023
Siouxsie Blaze is a self-taught, award-winning mad-scientist/artist working in<upcycled, recycled, and found-object multi-media assemblage and sculpture. She brings second life to broken and forgotten objects, transforming them into new physical works and digital 3D form through photogrammetry and multi-row 360 photography. Her work has been selected for the NFT NYC Showcase at the Javitz Center, displayed on the Times Square art screens, and exhibited at Ali Sabet’s Stratosphere show at Polygon Studios hosted by Steve Aoki. She is a winner of the RDC NFT Grant and was chosen for the historic 1,111 Female NFT-Pixel Project “Wonder Women” collection. Within the BDSM and leather community, where she is known as Domina Skye, that same artistic eye has shaped roughly 20,000 floggers for DeTails Toys across more than 25 years, including the leather rose flogger that Penthouse Forum highlighted, that Complex Magazine named a “Prized Find,” and that JoyClub voted “Best on the Web.” She has been a teacher and coordinator at many BDSM events, including serving as Art and Special Events Director for TES Fest and Camp Crucible. See her broader art practice at blazo.com/siouxsievblaze.
Our Story
The big news first: our longtime right-hand woman Martha is back, and the band is back together. She worked side by side with Siouxsie for over 10 years and is a huge part of our success.
After nearly 30 years and roughly 20,000 floggers, that sentence is long overdue! Anyone who’s been around DeTails Toys for a while knows the last few years were quiet. The economy turned, hands wore down from decades of braiding and knotting, and employees didn’t work out.
Finally we made the decision to take the shopping cart offline and let the brand go dormant rather than ship anything we weren’t proud of. Loyal customers kept emailing. We kept making small batches when we could. The fire never went out, but the website did.
In late 2025, two things changed. Siouxsie’s longtime apprentice and close friend Martha came back into the picture and agreed to return to work. Together they worked out a division of labor that respects all four of their hands. By tax day 2026, the new website was live and the orders started coming in on day one.
So if you’ve been with us since the early days, thank you. Thank you for the orders, the testimonials, the introductions to friends, the photos from your play spaces, and the long emails about how our toys have impacted (see what we did there) your lives. Twenty thousand floggers don’t get made by accident.
You're the reason DeTails Toys is one of the largest and best-known lifestyle flogger makers in the country, and you're the reason we get to do it again.
For the new folks: poke around. The links on the left will show you what’s currently in stock. We make floggers in small batches now (no more custom one-offs, just hand-cut and hand-braided pieces ready to ship), and when a new batch is ready we announce it via Instagram and on the homepage.
