Elk Floggers
Elk is one of our most popular hides. It is extremely versatile and feels wonderful. A regular size elk flogger can feel soft but stingy and is an excellent weight for people who want to learn double handed (florentine) flogging. Our best selling flogger of all time is the Double Elk as it has great THUD with a nice soft feel. Many people ask us ‘what is a good FIRST flogger?’ or ‘if I can only afford one flogger what would you suggest? We usually recommend a Double Elk or Moose (or a Single if you are not as into a thuddy feel).

Suede Floggers
If you want something medium weight but a bit more sting then elk, Suede is for you! The perfect middle weight flogger that comes in many beautiful colors. Suede offers an excellent balance of thud and sting due to the weight and abrasive finish of suede. Any leather can be considered suede as long as it has two unfinished sides but most times you are dealing with cow suede. Most suede is very stingy as since it retains moisture in the tanning process, it has a “wet towel” effect.

Water Buffalo Floggers - New Hide
Water Buffalo is a brand new hide here at DeTails Toys. It has a very interesting feel to it. It’s thicker than Elk but thinner and lighter than Bull. It’s a stingy hide but in a pleasant slappy way.
We think the tan has a serious cowboy vibe and would look good hanging from your gunslinger belt lol. One person who doesn’t like sting said: “it’s a ‘nice’ sting”. For a comparison, we’ve had people say it’s not as stingy as suede (which makes sense as suede retains a lot of moisture in the tanning process) or Bull, (because it’s lighter and so less thud but also less sting). Available in both black and tan, with tan (aka natural) available right now and black coming end of June.

Moose Floggers
Moose is what’s referred to as a Game Hide. The weights of these hides are all over the place. When they are on the thinner side, they are similar to elk but they are way thicker and thuddier when we get what’s called moccasin weight. Moose has what we call a spongier thickness. If elk feels just a bit too soft for you, this is a great choice. Moose is another great choice for a first flogger! If you see some in stock and you want one, buy it IMMEDIATELY as we often go months without getting any in stockoh sa. Moose is another great choice for a first flogger!
Sometimes we get SLAPPY MOOSE a thinner stingier moose that is still a bit thicker than elk and since it has a bit more slap it’s different enough for us to make floggers out of them..
